Reporting Rent On Credit

Renting a home can affect your credit in many ways. It’s becoming very common for credit reporting agencies to include a positive rental history in the credit reports. Having good credit can help you with renting, and paying your rent on time can help build good credit.

For a positive rent payment history to be reported on your credit reports, your landlord must send your rental history data to them. Rent payment history is being reported more frequently to credit bureaus, but it is not a mandated process. There are many third-party services that can report your rent payment to a credit reporting agency but you can not report them yourself. You cannot self-report your rent payments to the credit bureaus.
